Guide for local businesses

How local businesses in Tenerife can get more customers using AI search and online ads

By Sandeep Sanjay Kamtam, founder of Korvify · Updated 22 October 2026 · About 9 minutes

The short answer

Make your business easy to find and easy to trust wherever customers look: a complete Google Business Profile, a clear website, consistent details and regular reviews. AI assistants draw on that information when they answer questions. Then use online ads to reach people who are searching now or who fit your customer, and measure the enquiries they bring.

A visitor planning a day out, or a resident looking for a new restaurant, rarely uses just one channel. The same person might:

In Tenerife this happens in several languages, because businesses serve residents and visitors from many countries. Each channel uses information about your business, and much of it comes from the same few sources: your Google Business Profile, your website, other listings and your reviews.

Step 1: Get the basics right

These basics help every channel at once, including ads, search results and AI answers.

Claim and complete your Google Business Profile

Make your website answer the questions customers ask

Keep your details consistent everywhere

Use the same business name, address, phone number and opening hours on your website, Google Business Profile, social profiles and any directories or booking platforms. When details disagree, search engines and AI assistants have to guess which one is correct, and customers may turn up when you are closed.

Collect reviews and reply to them

Ask happy customers for a review, for example with a QR code at the till or a message after a booking. Reply to reviews politely and promptly. Recent reviews and replies show that the business is active, and reviews are one of the sources AI assistants can draw on when describing a business.

Step 2: Help AI assistants understand your business

AI assistants answer questions in full sentences, and some name specific businesses and link to their sources. Making your business easy for them to understand is often called answer engine optimisation (AEO).

Write in clear, direct answers

Write the way you would answer a customer at the counter. "We are a family-run fish restaurant in Los Cristianos, open every day from 12:00 to 22:00" is easier to quote than "An unforgettable taste of the sea".

Add structured data to your website

Structured data (schema markup) is code that states facts about your business in a standard, machine-readable format: name, address, opening hours, services and prices. It does not change how the page looks, but it removes guesswork for the systems that read it.

Let AI search crawlers read your site

Some hosting and security services block AI crawlers by default. If you want to appear in AI search answers, check your hosting dashboard and your website's robots.txt file to make sure the search crawlers used by AI services are allowed.

Be mentioned in other trusted places

Listings in local directories, your tourism or business association, partner websites and local news all add independent confirmation of who you are and what you do.

No one controls which businesses an AI assistant names. These steps make accurate information about your business easier to find and use. They do not guarantee a mention.

Step 3: Use online ads to reach customers now

Search results and AI answers take time to reflect your work. Ads can start bringing visitors as soon as a campaign is live.

Search ads reach people who are already looking

Search ads appear when someone searches for what you sell, such as "dentist Adeje" or "car hire Tenerife south". They suit businesses that customers actively look for.

Social ads reach people who fit your customer

Ads on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and TikTok reach people based on where they are and what they are interested in, even if they aren't searching yet. They suit businesses that are easy to show in pictures or video, such as restaurants, excursions and shops.

Target by location and language

Limit ads to the area your customers come from or stay in, and write them in the languages those customers use. A beach bar in Costa Adeje and a gestoría in Santa Cruz need very different settings.

Measure enquiries, not just clicks

A click is not a customer. Track the calls, messages, form enquiries and bookings that ads bring, and, where you can, which of those became sales. Answer enquiries quickly; a slow reply wastes the money spent to get it.

A 30-day starting checklist

  1. Claim or check your Google Business Profile and fill in every relevant field.
  2. Make your name, address, phone number and opening hours identical everywhere they appear.
  3. Rewrite your website's main page so the first lines say what you offer, where and for whom.
  4. Add a questions-and-answers section with five to ten real customer questions.
  5. Add structured data to your website and test it with Google's Rich Results Test.
  6. Check that your hosting and robots.txt allow search engines and AI search crawlers.
  7. Start asking every happy customer for a review, and reply to new reviews each week.
  8. Ask two or three AI assistants about businesses like yours in your area, and note what they say about you.
  9. Run a small, location-targeted ad campaign and track enquiries from it.
  10. Review the results after 30 days and adjust.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a website to appear in AI assistants' answers?

Not always. AI assistants can also draw on business listings, reviews and other websites. But your own website is the one source you fully control, so it is the best place to state your services, prices, opening hours and location clearly.

Can anyone guarantee that my business appears in ChatGPT, Gemini or Google's AI Overviews?

No. Each AI assistant decides for itself which sources to use and which businesses to mention. You can make your information accurate, consistent and easy to read, which improves your chances, but no one can promise a mention.

How quickly do online ads bring customers?

Ads can start showing as soon as a campaign is approved and live, so they are the fastest of the methods in this guide. Results depend on your offer, budget, location and how quickly you answer enquiries.

How long do changes to my listings and website take to show in search and AI answers?

Usually weeks rather than days, because search engines and AI services need to revisit your pages and listings. Some changes may take longer, and timing is not guaranteed.

Should my business information be in Spanish and English?

If your customers search in both languages, yes. In Tenerife many businesses serve residents and visitors who search in Spanish, English and other languages, so describing your business in the languages your customers use helps them, and the services they search with, find and understand you.

How much does Korvify charge to run ads?

Korvify's digital-marketing plans cost €375, €475 or €625 per month, and each price includes campaign management and advertising spend. Sending an enquiry is free.
